Ask how matchmaking works
The best clubs help players find others at a similar level. Look for active match groups, honest level assessments, regular mixers and staff who can make introductions. A giant chat with no structure is not matchmaking.
Look beyond peak-time availability
Check the booking window, cancellation policy, guest rules and how quickly evenings fill. The membership only works if you can actually play when your schedule allows.
Watch a coaching session
Good instruction should be specific, progressive and tied to decisions on court, not just a basket of balls and a rotating line. Ask whether coaches teach pair movement, glass defense and point construction.
Read the room between matches
Do people linger? Are beginners welcomed into events? Do staff know regulars and connect new players? Community is not décor. It is the system that keeps you coming back.
